We strive to help Harbor's Edge residents achieve a full, vibrant and active lifestyle at each stage of life.  We provide a unique setting and wide variety of health and wellness programs to help residents achieve their highest level of spirit, mind and body well-being.  We provide an environment and staff which encourage and support healthy behaviors, positive relationships, ongoing learning and continued growth to help residents achieve a sense of life purpose and satisfaction.

Harbor's Edge staff helps interested residents create a personal wellness plan to pursue new goals and make the most of the onsite amenities such as our Fitness Center, art studio, educational programs and fitness programs.

To ensure our residents' quick easy access to basic medical care and services we have created a partnership with EVMS' Glennan Center for Geriatrics and Gerentology. Dr. Jennifer Ryal from the program provides primary care services once a week onsite through our three onsite health clinics.  In addition our clinical staff, which includes registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs), provides residents with skilled, professional services including:

• General primary care doctor's office visits
• Vital signs and weight monitoring (i.e. blood pressure, pulse, temperature)
• Laboratory services (i.e. blood draws)
• Assistance scheduling off-site diagnostic testing
• Assistance coordinating outpatient rehab for onsite occupational therapy (OT) and physical therapy (PT)
• Post-surgical rehabilitation coordination with skilled nursing care
• Flu shots and vaccinations
• Nursing assessments and referrals
• Transportation to and from doctors appointments
• PT/INR testing for patients on blood-thinning medications (i.e. Coumadin)
• Free prescription drug and over-the-counter (OTC) medicine delivery
• Podiatrist services
• Massage therapy
• Free daily resident check-in program for medication reminders, etc.
• Twice monthly optical care including complimentary eyeglass repairs
• Belltone hearing aid evaluations and maintenance
• Health promotion and disease prevention materials and education
