Our History
In 2000, Neil Volder of Volder Consulting Inc., unveiled his vision for a unique, resort-style waterfront retirement community adjacent to historic Fort Norfolk, the site of one of 19 harbor-front forts authorized by President George Washington in 1794. In 2004, Neil, alongside eight of Norfolk’s top business leaders who also volunteered as the Board of Directors, set a record by selling all available residences in the proposed Harbor Tower in just nine weeks. Harbor’s Edge charter members moved into the Tower in August 2006. Harbor’s Edge is considered one of the preeminent retirement communities on the East Coast.
