Press Release

Norfolk’s premier retirement community is excited to see and hear the classic tunes from the 30’s to 50’s in HE Follies, directed and performed by the Harbor’s Edge Residents.

Norfolk, VA, April 15, 2015 – The Harbor’s Edge residents have been working tirelessly for months in preparation for the HE Follies event. Fifteen residents will be lip syncing their favorite oldies decked out in costumes, wigs, and all.

Thelma Laderberg, a theater major, is no stranger to putting on a show. She produced and directed a one act play last year at Harbor’s Edge. The play was such a success, the residents wanted more. This year, she decided to do something a little different. She thought the play was a great way to get the community together. Yes, Harbor’s Edge plans lots of events to keep the residents engaged, but there is something extra special about an event planned and produced by the residents themselves with some help from the staff. Thelma says, “doing the HE Follies was a way to get more residents involved”. Fifteen residents will be transforming into their favorite singers including Elvis, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Judy Garland, and Reba McIntire thanks to Activities Assistant, Angelica Yankauskas.  Angelica has been in musicals and plays with The Little Theatre of Norfolk and they were kind enough to donate some amazing costumes for the production.

HE Follies will be on Wednesday, April 29th in the Grand Hall at Harbor’s Edge with a reception of champagne and desserts to follow in Café Norfolk.
